Political beliefs

hey guys could you list your political beliefs and then those of your parents/guardians, also do you think parents influence their children's political ideologies why or why not?

  1. My political beliefs differ from my parents who are strict Republicans (and support the party even more now that Obama is in office.) I take each elected official or candidate in the running on a 'case by case basis.' Each person is an individual and does not always speak solely for his or her party. Yes, that will guide some of their actions, but not all. On the topic of parents, I really don't feel any pressure from them to change my political values to match theirs...as long as I can hold out in an argument. Ha ha

    A) I don't really have one political belief. To be honest, politics really aren't my thing and I hate the way society makes you choose what you are. I like to take each situation separately and look at the pros and cons and decide from there.
    B) My parents are republicans.

    2. Yes, a lot of kids at my school are quite politically influenced by their parents. They don't have enough info to back themselves up when they speak and claim it's what their parents said and they believe them.

  3. I don't have a definite idea what all my beliefs are, but I have been told they are somewhat liberal. I come from a democratic background, but my mom over the years has become more conservative, while my dad has become more socialist, is the best way to to put it. I do believe parents influence their children because it's how the child was raised. Their beliefs are most likely going to correlate with their upbringing. Once the kid goes off on their own, their beliefs might possibly change or become a little altered.

  4. Personally, I am a centralist. I do not agree strongly with either the left or right side. My parents, however are republicans. I think that as much as my parents would love for me to go to Republican events with them, they respect my beliefs and don't make many disparaging comments about democrats (unless it is election time). I believe that it is important for parents to let their kids know that there are always two sides to something and that it is important to understand both viewpoints. Because I was raised in Oregon(strongly liberal) and Florida (mostly Conservative), I have been exposed to extremities of Republicans and Democrats.

  6. i'm a fence sitter, i'm not conservative or liberal, you list me the facts and then ill make a judgment call, my mom is the same way. i think that some do and some don't influence their kids because you look up to your parents its only natural you're going to assume to believe what they do but i don't think it's good at all, because all it is demonstrate how close minded you can be.

  8. Minjee you are too much!

but yea politics are too complicated for my simple brain so I would say that i'm influence by my parents. I won't share their political beliefs because that's rude and they'd probably be mad at me but I think that politics are just too complicated for people who don't have jobs/children because as teens we're really not that affected, our parents are. People say that they see me as very liberal which I can understand and agree with but i'm not labeling myself. So while people have all their beliefs and stuff, I'll probably conjure up my belief after the things that the politicians are arguing about affect my life immediately.
